John 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears My Word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”
The Jewish leaders had begun to persecute Jesus for healing a man on the Sabbath. Jesus argued in vs. 17 “My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I too am working.” As Jesus stood up for His heavenly Father, the Jewish leaders were even more angered in their ignorance.
What We Should Know
There is an old saying “The truth hurts” and Jesus gave the Jewish leaders the truth in no uncertain terms knowing it would anger them. Jesus was not looking to impress anyone or seek applause for speaking up. They needed to hear the truth, and He gave it to them. We should be so bold in our faith. Our greatest sin as Christians is the sin of omission of the truth.
