Matthew 7:12 “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the law and the Prophets.”
We call this “The Golden Rule.” Verses 13 and 14 further clarify that we should “Enter through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction.”
What We Should Know
Jesus reminded us of this importance in Matthew 25 when He said “As you have done it to the least of these, you have done it to Me.” But what is the significance of the wideness of the gate? As we go through life, every day has decisions to be made and our decisions affect the lives of others. There are so many possible choices in life and they can be confusing and the wrong choices can easily be made. Thus, the fewer options we consider, the better our chances of making right decisions. Just walk down the cereal aisle in the grocery store sometime or the candy aisle. Imagine a kid or a hungry adult and the many choices available to them. That’s the way our world is today…..too many choices. We always want to make the right choices for ourselves and others.
